Alaska Halibut Fishing

Although the Kenai Peninsula is home to some of the best salmon fishing in the World, the area is also coveted by sport fishermen for offering spectacular halibut fishing in the waters of Cook Inlet. Our halibut fishing trips depart from Ninilchik, AK which is a short 35-mile drive south of Soldotna. Departure times vary as to the tides but no matter what the departure time, plan on being on the water around 5 or 6 hours.

Halibut fishing isn't for everyone. It is without a doubt a great experience, but also a fair bit of work in the process. You will likely be fishing in about 100 to 300 feet of water and have several pounds of weight on to keep your bait on the bottom where these big flat fish are found. A common halibut to expect to catch ranges from 20 to 80 pounds with an occasional barn door such as the one seen here caught in 1998 of 170. You never know what might bite and many fish in excess of 100 pounds are taken in any given season in Cook Inlet.  Our licensed Captains will take you to the best fishing holes on clean, safe, and comfortable boats that provide for a great fishing adventure. In addition to our fishing services, your guide will dress your catch and recommend processing.
